A fantastic recording of the first show of the so-called "All That You Can't Leave Behind promo-tour". It's a DAT recording, and sounds really close and clear. The atmosphere is very intimate into the small club, and the band puts on a nice performance. All instruments sound close and powerful, and come through very clean, although it lacks more punch on the bass. Crowd are audible, but not overwhelming. There are some imperfections (skips, pops, ticks) here and there, but this recording puts the other recordings of this gig into shame, as the live feeling and crispness are excellent. The show was a warm-up for the upcoming Elevation Tour, and it was on display that the set needed to be more rehearsed. Beautiful Day and The Ground Beneath Her Feet had to be re-started, as the their first take were a total mess. Bono added to Bad some lines of Jacques Brel's Ne Me Quitte Pas.

As written in U2 Live book by Pimm Jal de la Parra and Caroline van Oosten de Boer (Omnibus Press, 2003): "Officially, the event is a pre-release listening event for "All That You Can't Leave Behind", with a private party at the (...) Man Ray Club afterwards. But nobody's really surprised when the band show up as the place is packed with local and international celebrities and there's a small stage set up at the far end of the main room in the club. There are 130 NRJ competition winners on scene and 70 tickets distributed by the French fanclub, U2.a.b.e.l".
