Recording Equipment - History
remastered Matrix of AUD + ALD sources
Audience: Nakamichi 700 mics + Sony TCD-D8
ALD: ALD receiver + Sony TCD-D7
Both taped by JEMS
Matrixing: Master DATs matrixed and cleaned up via Wavelab > CDR-Master > xACT verified extraction to WAV
Remastering Process: Fradoca
Additional notes (by JEMS):
Up in the fantastic city of Vancouver it was mono ALD and audience recordings of
what turned out to be a pretty good show. The resulting composite recording is
not perfect by any stretch (ALD feeds have dropouts and there are some here
though most if not all static bursts have been patched), but still quite good.
JEMS had never done a properly mastered version of this show like we had with
Portland so it was just sort of sitting in the vault gathering dust when we
heard Francesco's terrific remaster of the Seattle 4/24/05 ALD matrix. After
hearing that I contacted Francesco to see if he would be interested in working
on Vancouver which he was, the result of which is the torrent you see before you.
He did some terrific work on correcting phase problems and opening up the sonic
spectrum.
Additional notes (by Fradoca): First of all thanks to JEMSHQ for letting me do this remaster! The show is very very good and Bono is on. This one has not been an easy task. As JEMS said the were holes in the ald feed and the audience recording was a little bit boomy. I've tried my best to keep things in balance. Especially the frequency response. Just for the record the stereo phase is ok but in some points for a bunch of seconds it hits the negative bar... but it's something that doesn't affect the pleasure of listening.
Comments
It's a JEMS matrixed master and a Fradoca remaster, so everything has been said. Sound quality is awesome, and the show is pretty good, too, with the nice addition of Even Better than the Real Thing to the set.
