Comments

Another pretty good source of the first of two nights in Cologne. Again, sound quality is very good with a clear and solid capture of music and vocals but lacks more bass. There's some crowd intrusion, but nothing major. I prefer this source than my other source of this show, and I'd rate this one as an "exc-". There are two little skips in Elevation at 0:33 and 1:14. Moreover, Bad is missing the very first seconds due to a mini-disc change, so this makes a tiny dropout at 0:02.

* Comments by Justin Cook: The awesome 'Hawkmoon 269 / Desire / Running to Stand Still' medley alone is enough to convince almost any U2 fan to acquire this bootleg. "Hawkmoon" hadn't been played since the Lovetown tour over a decade ago. To be honest, it's not really played during this show, but Bono sings the 90 seconds worth of the lyrics with The Edge playing the opening notes of "Desire" softly in the background. The band then launches into "Desire", at the end of which Bono starts singing "Running To Stand Still" virtually unaccompanied seemingly on a whim. Again, the song is not played in its entirety, but almost two minutes are included. At the end, The Edge segues back into the closing notes of "Desire" and Bono plays his bit on the harmonica. It is truly an incredible performance. Even with the band changing the setlist a bit on the Elevation tour, U2 hasn't displayed this type of spontaneity for many, many years.

The medley track that Justin mentioned, was read by Bono from a sheet that a fan held in the audience.
